"Living with Heart, Mind, and Strength"

“And he said to them, 'You shall not only worship me, but you must worship the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind.'”Matthew 22:37-40

Applying to daily life, Jesus taught that worshiping him and his God requires more than just a Sunday sermon or a ceremony. It means taking the first step, every day, to prioritize relationships, respect others, and honor the divine in our lives. It means making small, consistent choices that demonstrate a commitment to justice, mercy, and humility, even when it's hard. It means living with all our heart, mind, and strength, rather than just putting on a good show. And it means taking time to rest and be with the Lord, rather than just rushing through our lives. Jesus' teaching is not just a call to action, but a reminder that we all have a responsibility to live out ordinary faithfulness in our daily lives, one small step at a time.

Living it out today

  • Start each day by sharing a prayer with a friend or family member, asking for their presence and blessing.

  • Make a conscious effort to forgive someone today, and to practice empathy and understanding towards them.

  • Spend a few minutes each day writing down one thing you are grateful for, and one thing you are sorry for.

  • Take a moment to reflect on a time when you failed to honor the Lord in your life, and to make a plan to learn from your mistakes.

  • Take a short walk outside, and take a few deep breaths, asking God to show you his presence and love.

  • Prioritize getting enough sleep and rest today, and make a plan to establish a consistent bedtime routine.

  • Write down a list of people who need prayer or encouragement in your life, and take a few minutes to send them a message or send a care package.

  • Take a few minutes to pray for someone who needs your help or support, and to ask God to give you the strength to do so.

  • Make a conscious effort to put the needs of others before your own, and to prioritize serving and caring for those in need.
